A little more about the courses….

All learning materials are covered with course fees. All materials are written by Sandra Starrett (B.P.E., Registered Kinesiologist) who has 30 years of experience in the fitness industry. Sandra helps you to focus on the materials you need to know to meet industry standards and will impart the knowledge you need to safely and effectively teach real life participants and clients. We also have the training guides for all courses available for sale with a licensing agreement to use to develop in-house training systems.

**A note on pricing and value: While our courses are very competitively priced, you can always find someone lower (this is true with almost everything). But you won’t find our value-added benefits anywhere else. These include Sandra’s personal attention, the ease of understanding the material, outstanding and clearly written training manuals, assistance with the certification process, and Sandra’s complete dedication to your success.

1.Fitness Theory

What is the Fitness Theory Course?

I often call the fitness theory course “the owner’s guide to your own body”. You will learn how your body works. It involves learning about the bones of your body (your skeleton), how your body moves (joint movements) and where and how your muscles work. It also involves learning about training principles, how to prepare a work out and to do so safely (to minimize injuries). You also will get to learn a whole lot of health tips to help you adhere to a healthy lifestyle for an improved quality of life.

If you plan to teach fitness classes – aquatic or land based (group), yoga fitness or to become a personal trainer you will be expected to be knowledgeable about how the body works. This is to keep your clients and participants safe. It is what is expected to be considered a professional – having the appropriate knowledge to design fitness sessions or classes. In addition to this knowledge of the body, first aid and CPR are typical requirements of becoming a fitness professional.

In order to be insured as a fitness professional you will require registration or certification with a fitness organization. In Canada, this can be done by registering with the British Columbia Parks & Recreation Association (BCRPA) Fitness Branch. To register to become a fitness professional you will need to write their on-line Fitness theory exam. The Fitness theory course offered by Phys-X will prepare you with a path of knowledge to successfully pass the BCRPA fitness theory exam (pass is considered 80%). We will also provide you with a study path to help you retain the material.

If you are interested in becoming a fitness professional and are from outside of Canada, please contact Phys-X owner, Sandra Starrett, for a consultation on a pathway to attain given your unique requirements. All of Sandra’s courses meet international standards to help you qualify for insurance.
